Derek loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping and racing both snowmobiles and demolition derby cars. Everything he did, he did with great passion. Derek also loved to work. He began working for his Grandpa Haderlie at the age of nine and he developed a deep sense of pride in work well done.
